Joey Peña

With more than 20 years of experience in journalism, education, public policy and strategic communications, Joey helps mission-driven organizations tell their stories clearly and connect with their communities. 

His expertise spans executive communications, crisis and issues management, strategic messaging and media relations. He has partnered with clients in health care, social justice, higher education and LGBTQIA+ advocacy, helping them launch new initiatives, navigate complex challenges, advance policy goals and communicate with purpose. 

Before joining GHG, Joey built his career across several fields. He began as a newspaper reporter and editor, then moved to South Korea to teach English. After returning to the United States, he worked in communications for Denver Public Schools and later joined the City and County of Denver, where he served as a liaison between city agencies, businesses and community members. His diverse background shapes the practical, thoughtful and collaborative approach he brings to every client partnership.
