The Challenge
The Denver Preschool Program (DPP) plays a critical role in strengthening early childhood education by supporting enrollment and distributing approximately $15 million in funding annually to Denver families. However, ensuring that families across Denver — particularly those from communities that are historically underrepresented — are aware of and able to access these resources remains an ongoing challenge. Barriers such as language differences, limited awareness, and lack of connection to trusted community networks can prevent families from enrolling their children. To sustain and grow impact, the program requires a strategic, culturally responsive outreach approach that engages diverse audiences at scale while building meaningful, trust-based relationships within the communities it serves.
GHG Approach
In 2025 alone, GHG implemented a comprehensive, community-centered outreach strategy focused on meeting families where they are. After identifying high-impact events that attract Denver’s diverse populations, we engaged our team of multilingual Community Connectors to participate with a resource table, ensuring meaningful, face-to-face engagement. The team prioritized culturally relevant events and partnerships, with a strong emphasis on communities that are historically underrepresented.
In addition to event-based outreach, GHG cultivated and maintained relationships with local nonprofit organizations serving targeted geographic and demographic groups. These partnerships enabled direct access to families through presentations, resource sharing, and trusted community networks. GHG also supported key program initiatives through event management, amplifying visibility and awareness through opportunities such as webinars and bilingual celebrity storytimes.
